A gift to the Church can also be planned through provisions in a Last Will and Testament. Bequests can be especially attractive to donors who have a desire to support the Church's ministries, yet are limited in their gifts during lifetime because of restricted resources or other obligations.
- A specific bequest leaves a certain dollar amount or a piece of property, such as stock or real estate.
- A residual bequest leaves all or a portion of what is left from an estate after debts, taxes, expenses and other bequests have been paid.
- A contingent bequest leaves assets only under certain conditions-if a spouse or other beneficiary does not survive, for example.
