The Foundation is responsible for investing approximately $83 million in assets. In order to ensure prudent and successful investment activities, the Foundation employs eight professional investment managers. Also, the Foundation employs an independent consultant to monitor investment manager performance.
The Foundation maintains three investment pools that are used by accounts under management; the Money Market Pool (MMP), the Income Investment Pool (IIP), and the Growth Investment Pool (GIP). Each account at the Foundation can participate in one or more investment pools to achieve an investment strategy to fit its unique circumstances. Historical investment performance is available upon request.
The Foundation manages substantial funds for United Methodist local churches and institutions. For further information, contact Roger Bryles, the Foundation's CFO.
Local Church Endowment Development
Building a local church endowment fund is a great opportunity to provide for the church today, but also expands the possibilities for tomorrow. An endowment gift is a permanent gift. It is like a savings account where you only spend the interest or earnings, but the principal or original gift amount is never spent. Therefore the gift serves the Church in perpetuity.
Income from gifts, bequests, or trusts can be distributed to any United Methodist church, institution, agency or charity through the Foundation. The Foundation will hold your gift in perpetuity and will distribute the earnings according to your directives.
An endowment fund can enhance church ministry and outreach, help care for facilities, and have positive tax benefits as well.
We support our local United Methodist Church through our prayers, our presence, our gifts, and our service during our lifetime. Many of us love the Church dearly and would like to do more, but are frustrated by limited resources or other obligations. Planning a bequest in your will is a powerful way to give more and overcome that frustration.
The United Methodist Foundation of Arkansas can provide churches with free materials to begin a local Church Endowment. A local church endowment committee would oversee the endowment gifts to the church, determine how the interest would be spent, and other provisions of all endowed gifts. For free information, contact Janet Kernodle Marshall, Foundation Vice President.
Planned giving development & education
The Foundation maintains a library of resources for educating church members on planned giving opportunities. The materials are free and can be obtained my contacting Janet Kernodle Marshall. |
