Our Story

The United Methodist Foundation of Arkansas (UMFA) is a nonprofit organization that serves Arkansas United Methodist churches, institutions, and people. It was chartered in 1963 and is under authority granted by the Arkansas United Methodist Annual Conference. It is supervised by a Board of Directors elected by the conference. The Foundation currently serves as trustee for over 500 endowments and trusts with assets over $106 million.

The Foundation is much like a bank trust department, except that we serve only the United Methodist Church. The Foundation produces over $5 million in investment income which is paid to a wide array of United Methodist programs, organizations, local churches, and remainder trust income beneficiaries.

The Foundation's own budget is underwritten from a variety of sources, including income from the Foundation's own endowment fund, gifts from members of the Bishops' Club, and a small account service fee.

Our Mission

UMFA exists to assist individuals and local churches in creating and wisely managing permanent charitable funds that strengthen the ministries of the United Methodist Church. The Foundation provides a method for faithful stewards to live out their discipleship in ways that extend beyond their own lifetimes.
